What a difference a room makes
Frank and Marianne – Home Owner
Frank and Marianne's requirements were a common problem where one side of the house gets too much sun and warmth while the other is cold.
“ I have to say that we all just love the look of this window. It looks finished now and it sits well with the house. It's a winner with us from an appearance point of view”
“ The new windows are good and there is temperature improvement in the house now. It's especially noticeable in the bedroom - it's no longer a chilly/icy room. Also when we put the gas heater on we now have it on a lower temperature and the room stays at that temperature for much longer so the heater is virtually on low for most of the evening. So lots of gains. We're interested to experience the difference in the summer.”
"Installing double glazed windows, which are tinted, has resulted in a lounge which is now habitable both on cold winter days and hot summer days. We have also noticed that on hot summer days the ambient temperature is very pleasant when you first walk in to the house after a day at work. Also the double glazed window which is tinted and facing west in the kitchen has made cooking in the evenings much more bearable."
Frank and Marianne had different needs in different parts of their house. Heat loss reduction was required in the bedrooms and solar control and UV protection in the living room. We accomplished this by using standard double glazing (with Argon) in the bedrooms and laminate glass in the living room.
Another interesting aspect about this particular installation was the faceted windows. The finished product looked amazing and the thermal and UV benefits were seen straight away.
